The Combined Medical Services Exam or the CMS Exam is conducted by the UPSC (Union Public Service Commission) for the post of Medical Officer in various organizations such as the Indian Ordnance Factories, Indian Railways functioning under the Government of India. The Notification for the examination is usually released in September of every month and examination is conducted in January of every month. All successful candidates are admitted to various organizations of Government of India after an interview conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for those having qualified the written examination.All MBBS graduates can apply for Combined Medical Services Examination.
Eligibility Criteria
A candidate must be either :
(a) a Citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India. or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or from Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.
Educational Qualification
Must have passed the written and practical parts of the final M.B.B.S. Examination.
Age Limit
Must not have attained the age of 32 years with relaxations for various categories like SC,ST,OBC,Ex-servicemen etc.
Selection Process
Candidates successful in the Combined Medical Services Written Exam are then called for an interview which checks a candidate's suitability for a career as Medical Officer. All successful candidates are admitted to various organizations of Government of India after an interview conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for those having qualified the written examination.

2. Candidates are advised to read carefully the "Instructions for filling up the Offline Application Form" given in Appendix-2 (A) and Instructions for Online Applications given in Appendix 2 (B) of this notice.
3. Candidates who wish to apply Offline must apply in the Common Application form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.
